Dr. Tillquist has been doing bariatric surgery for over ten years, and
has extensive experience in both the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure
(RNY) and the LapBand™. Patients interested in a surgical weight
loss procedure should have a body mass index (BMI) of 35-40, and a medical
condition related to their being overweight. These medical conditions
include: Diabetes
Mellitus, Hypertension,
Coronary
Artery Disease, Congestive Heart Failure, Degenerative
Arthritis, Restrictive Lung Disease, Sleep
Apnea, Gastroesophageal
Reflux Disease (GERD), depression,
Infertility, and hygiene problems. A family history of obesity, and
obesity related problems are also important. With significant weight loss,
many of these conditions improve; and lead to a higher quality of life.
