Colorado Bariatric Surgery is part of a designated Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence—the Swedish Medical Center Bariatric Surgery Center in Denver. Swedish Medical Center and Colorado Bariatric Surgery were awarded this distinction by the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeons (ASBMS), the largest society for bariatric surgery in the world. Programs are awarded a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence designation when they can demonstrate:

  • A history of good patient results or outcomes for weight-loss surgery
  • A clear commitment to comprehensive, high-quality bariatric care

Earning the Center of Excellence Designation

To earn this designation, the Swedish Medical Center Bariatric Surgery Center underwent a rigorous site inspection that closely examined all aspects of the program’s surgical processes, and collected data on health outcomes. Our team at Colorado Bariatric Surgery played an important role in this evaluation and spent much time working closely with the ASBMS’s Surgical Review Corporation throughout the accreditation process.
