Will I have to take any supplements after surgery? PDF Print E-mail

At Colorado Bariatric Surgery, we do not measure the success of our treatment programs by the amount of weight our patients lose, but in the improvement of the quality of their lives. The surgery itself is only one component of a successful treatment plan; while it will certainly help you lose weight, you must continue to work hard through exercise and diet to obtain the maximum, lifelong benefits of the surgery.

Diet

After surgery, you will not be able to eat nearly as much food as you are used to eating. Many social and family events center on food, and usually large quantities of it. Some patients find these situations much more stressful after surgery, and the temptation to overeat during these times is great. We recommend that you be aware of this and prepare to be disciplined to fight the temptation to overeat. Remember to keep the primary goal of improved health and quality of life in mind. Exercise

A regular exercise program is just as important as diet modification and the surgery itself. While it may be difficult at first, patients need to plan to incorporate regular exercise into their daily life. Learn More about Exercise After Surgery>>>

Support

Connecting with others who are going through similar situations—whether it is in person or via the Internet—is another important component of a successful treatment plan. Learn More about Support Groups>>>
