Any healthy weight-loss program must incorporate a nutrition plan. However, lifelong diet and nutritional supplement planning is even more vital for those who undergo weight-loss surgery.

New Outlook on Food

Woman Eating

Because bariatric surgery patients can ingest only a limited amount of food, it is important to make every bite count toward the body’s health. Patients must begin to view food as a way to keep their bodies running, rather than a source of pleasure or socializing. In addition to a diet plan, a plan of appropriate nutritional supplements must be followed for life.

Colorado Bariatric Surgery works closely with Bariatric Nutrition Resources and Kelly Elliot, R.D., C.N.S.D., a highly experienced registered dietitian who specializes in diet and supplement plans for those who have undergone bariatric surgery. We ask our patients to take a nutrition class from Bariatric Nutrition Resources prior to surgery to ensure proper understanding of post-surgical diet and supplement planning.
